Cat in the Box: Deluxe Edition (EN)

Your cards have numbers but no fixed colours until you play them. Cat in the Box: Deluxe Edition takes the familiar rhythm of trick-taking and introduces a clever uncertainty that forces every player to shape the possibilities during the hand.

Declare a colour when playing a card and mark that combination on the shared research board. Once a number-colour space has been claimed, nobody can claim it again. Following the leading colour matters, but the evolving board gradually reduces the legal options for every card still in play.

Before a hand, predict how many tricks you think you will win. Accurate forecasts score well, while an impossible play can cause a paradox and change the outcome dramatically. You are balancing the tricks you want to take against the space you need to preserve for the cards left in your hand.

Cat in the Box is a rewarding choice for players who already enjoy card games and want a fresh puzzle within each trick. The deluxe presentation supports the distinctive shared board. Expect lively discussions after a round about the exact moment a perfectly reasonable card became impossible to play.
