In Castles of Mad King Ludwig, you assemble rooms of different shapes and sizes into a growing floor plan, trying to satisfy royal preferences while making each new addition work with the rooms already built.

Buying the right room is only part of the puzzle. Its position, connections and neighbouring spaces can all influence its value, while completing rooms unlocks useful rewards. A tempting purchase may fit today's plan beautifully but make tomorrow's expansion more difficult, so every doorway and awkward corner deserves a little thought.

The rotating master builder role brings a lively pricing challenge to the table. One player sets the room prices, and rivals decide what they are willing to pay. Setting an attractive price can bring in income, but it may also hand another builder exactly the room their castle needs.

Public objectives and personal goals give each castle a different direction. This second edition offers a satisfying combination of spatial planning and market judgement, with the pleasure of seeing an unusual building take shape in front of you. It suits players who enjoy tile placement, flexible scoring opportunities and strategic decisions with a strong visual payoff.

Players: 1–4

Age Range: 13+

Typical game: Approximately 90 minutes

Difficulty rating: 🧠🧠½ (2.5/5)

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0763/7499/9196/files/6171_bezier-games-castles-of-mad-king-ludwig.jpg?v=1790275111
